L4S, which stands for “Low Latency, Low Loss, Scalable throughput,” prioritizes specific applications that require faster internet speeds, such as video calls, VR experiences, and online gaming. This new technology allows for faster data packet movement, resulting in almost jitter-free connections.
Users don’t need to upgrade their devices to benefit from T-Mobile’s new low-latency tech, as the upgrade is done on the carrier’s end. This improvement is part of T-Mobile’s preparation for 5G-Advanced, the next generation of mobile networks.
Aside from enhancing video calling and gaming experiences, L4S also plays a crucial role in extended reality (XR) applications. It ensures stable frame rates for VR and XR headsets, reducing motion sickness and improving visual quality in AR glasses.
Additionally, NVIDIA has already integrated L4S into its GeForce Now cloud gaming platform, providing T-Mobile users with smoother visuals and rendering.
