Tencent Removes “Dungeon & Fighter” from Selected Android App Stores

Tencent announced on Thursday that it will be removing its popular mobile game “Dungeon & Fighter” (DnF Mobile) from selected Android app stores due to expired contracts. This move comes amidst ongoing tensions between game developers and distributors in China over revenue sharing issues.

Game developers in China have been at odds with app stores over the standard 50% revenue share split, with Tencent being no exception. The company, known as China’s largest game developer by revenue, did not disclose which specific app stores would be affected by the removal of “Dungeon & Fighter.”

Local media reports have indicated that app stores such as Huawei, Oppo, and Vivo will be impacted by Tencent’s decision. This is not the first time Tencent has faced such a situation, as Huawei previously removed some of the company’s mobile games from its app store in 2021 due to disagreements over revenue sharing.
