Terraria’s long-awaited 1.4.5 patch finally has a release date, and it’s this month: ‘start the countdown’

After three years of meticulous development, the gaming community is abuzz with excitement as Re-Logic announces the release date for Terraria’s much-anticipated 1.4.5 update. Set to launch on January 27, just under two weeks away, this update promises to deliver a wealth of new content and features.

In a recent Steam post, Re-Logic shared their enthusiasm, stating, “We have a few more things to get done between now and then. But start the countdown because Terraria 1.4.5 will be in your hands in 13 short days!” The studio has confirmed that they are in the final stages of development, having defined an internal launch window and coordinated with various partners. The goal was to achieve a global launch across all platforms, a task that proved challenging. A previous post indicated that aligning all platforms and global partners in time for a December release was “impossible,” leading to the decision to delay until January.

What to Expect in Update 1.4.5

So, what can players look forward to in this significant update? The answer is a plethora of exciting additions. Key features include:

  • Crossover Packs: Two crossover packs featuring content from Dead Cells and Palworld. Players can expect new weapons, items, and entities inspired by these games.
  • Summonable Digtoise: A unique addition from Palworld, this creature can mine through blocks, adding a new layer of gameplay mechanics.
  • Innovative Non-Licensed Additions: The update will introduce music blocks, special boulders that exhibit unusual behaviors such as “falling” upwards, and transformation mounts that allow players to morph into various creatures like bats, rats, and even velociraptors.
  • New Entities: Players will encounter new entities, including a pufferfish and six new types of slime, along with dozens of additional items and features.

While the wait for update 1.4.5 has been lengthy, the extensive list of new content suggests that the delay will be well worth it for fans of the game.
