PS2 Emulator NetherSX2 Releases Update 2.1

The PS2 emulator NetherSX2 recently released update 2.1, bringing a significant performance boost to users. The update addresses regressions and visual bugs that were introduced in the previous version, providing a smoother gaming experience.

Developer Trixarian has specifically fixed issues with popular games like Jak, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence, and Timesplitters. The update also includes updated widescreen and no-interlacing patches, as well as compatibility improvements with different input devices through the latest version of Controller DB.

There are two versions of the update available for download, each based on different versions of AetherSX2. Build 4248 is recommended for most users, with fixes for Snowblind engine games and specific titles like Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance, Ace Combat, and Jak games. On the other hand, Build 3668 is better suited for NASCAR and Colin McRae Rally games, as well as older Mali devices experiencing rendering issues.

While NetherSX2 continues to provide better performance compared to the upcoming ARMSX2 PCSX2 port, users can choose between the two builds on GitHub. It’s important to note that only one build can be installed at a time, and saves are not cross-compatible between the versions.

Despite limitations due to the closed-source nature of the project, NetherSX2 remains a reliable option for PS2 emulation on Android devices. Stay tuned for further updates and enhancements in the future.
