The Blood of Dawnwalker lets you complete areas in any order, kill any NPCs you like, and still complete the game after failing every quest: ‘We’re giving even more freedom to players’

During a recent visit to Rebel Wolves in Warsaw, the studio’s passion for role-playing games (RPGs) was immediately evident, encapsulated in their bold slogan: “A studio born out of love for RPGs.” Their inaugural title, The Blood of Dawnwalker, embodies this ethos, presenting an ambitious sandbox experience where players navigate the life of Coen, a half-human, half-vampire protagonist on a quest to save his family and dismantle a tyrannical supernatural regime.

Exploring the RPG Landscape

As RPGs experience a vibrant resurgence, studio founder Konrad Tomaszkiewicz shared his vision for how The Blood of Dawnwalker will contribute to the genre’s evolution. When discussing his inspirations, he referenced the innovative mechanics of titles like Crimson Desert, highlighting its “approach to freedom and systems.” However, Konrad’s influences stretch even further back, encompassing classics such as Eye of the Beholder, Stonekeep, and Betrayal at Krondor.

At the heart of his design philosophy lies a desire to bridge the gap between digital gaming and traditional pen-and-paper RPGs. “It’s like it’s moved closer, the video game, to pen and paper RPGs,” Konrad explains. “And I think that this is the Holy Grail of what we want to achieve. To give you the freedom and give you immersion, which allows you to experience, emotionally, the game in a different way.”

With a launch date set for September 3, 2026, anticipation is building for The Blood of Dawnwalker, and the studio promises more insights and updates in the days ahead.
