The Sims 4 is finally fixing year-old bugs, so maybe my Sims will blink right

The landscape of The Sims 4 has recently been marked by a series of challenges, as the game navigates through a patchy period. Krafton’s Inzoi, touted as the potential ‘Sims Killer,’ has not made the impact many anticipated. Meanwhile, the latest downloadable content (DLC), Enchanted By Nature, has not resonated well with players, currently holding a lukewarm 45% rating on Steam. Adding to the intrigue, a peculiar bug that inadvertently resulted in some Sims experiencing unexpected pregnancies while leaving others without partners took EA several weeks to rectify. This series of events has highlighted several issues within Maxis’ beloved life simulation game, prompting a need for timely resolutions.

Upcoming Updates and Community Engagement

In response to these concerns, EA has decided to expedite the release of The Sims 4’s September update, moving it from its original launch date of September 23 to September 18 for PC players, while console users will still receive it on the planned date. This proactive approach aims to “quickly identify and address any potential issues” in anticipation of the forthcoming expansion pack, Adventure Awaits.

In a blog post dated September 15, EA emphasized its commitment to addressing player concerns by intensifying efforts to tackle the most pressing issues. The company encourages players to engage with the community forums to vote on the bugs they deem most critical. Currently, the ‘under investigation’ section lists issues dating back as far as 11 months, including a reload bug that disrupts work and school attendance for both adults and children, as well as a long-standing problem with Sims’ eyelids not fully closing, which has persisted since late 2024.

As October approaches, EA plans to monitor the reception of the Adventure Awaits expansion pack closely. Mark your calendars for November 4, which is set to be a significant date, featuring a variety of fixes alongside the introduction of new, free content for players.

EA reassures its community, stating, “We assure you that we’re aware of the issues impacting your play experiences, and your voices matter to us. Whether it’s gameplay, Create a Sim issues, or just a visual bug, utilizing the EA Forums and casting your votes will directly shape our future updates and changes to The Sims 4.” This commitment offers hope that long-standing bugs may finally receive the attention they deserve.
