The Wind Waker HD ported to Android – Zelda remaster from Wii U runs without an emulator

Classic Nintendo Games Ported to Smartphones

Enthusiasts in the gaming community have continued their efforts to bring classic Nintendo games to smartphones, with the latest development being an unofficial native port of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD for Android.

The project is a re-compilation of the Wii U version of the game, where upon first launch, the application extracts files from the user’s own game image and compiles the code directly on the smartphone.

The mobile version of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD features support for Vulkan and includes on-screen buttons, external controllers, and gyroscope-assisted aiming. Players can adjust resolution settings, utilize five save state slots, and import and export saves. For devices with Adreno, alternative graphics drivers can also be installed.

Moreover, the port offers frame generation via LSFG, which requires the Lossless.dll file. It is recommended to obtain this file from a personal copy of Lossless Scaling purchased on Steam.

To run the game, users will need Android 11 or newer, an ARM64 processor, Vulkan 1.1 support, and approximately 2 GB of free space. Additionally, an image and keys for the American or European version of the game are required for gameplay.
