Torn Banner Studios cuts staff

In a recent announcement on LinkedIn, Torn Banner Studios’ CEO and creative director, Steve Piggott, shared the challenging news of impending staff layoffs as part of a broader restructuring initiative. While the exact number of positions affected remains undisclosed, Piggott emphasized the studio’s commitment to supporting those impacted by these changes.

Support for Affected Employees

Piggott reassured employees that those who are laid off will receive severance packages and will be allowed to retain their work computers. Additionally, the studio is dedicated to assisting affected staff in finding new opportunities at other game development studios whenever possible. He expressed deep appreciation for the contributions of these individuals, stating, “Torn Banner Studios would not be the place it is today without the dedication, passion, and accomplishments of these great people.”

Focus on Future Projects

Despite the restructuring, Piggott confirmed that the ongoing development of Chivalry 2 will not be impacted by the layoffs. He reiterated the studio’s mission to create unforgettable cinematic experiences, whether through epic battles or thrilling survival scenarios. The recent early access release of No More Room in Hell 2 is a testament to this commitment, as the team strives to deliver what they believe is one of the most unique zombie experiences in the gaming industry.

Piggott highlighted that Torn Banner Studios remains fully dedicated to progressing with their roadmap and is actively working on additional features and content for their games. He concluded with a promise that the studio will continue to engage with its community as they advance towards a full 1.0 release in 2025. Furthermore, he assured players that Chivalry 2, which received its final update earlier in 2024, will continue to operate as usual, with servers remaining active.
