Co-development specialist Virtuos is embarking on an exciting journey by establishing a new development studio in South Korea’s vibrant capital, Seoul. This initiative will be led by general manager Seunghwan “Sean” Yoon, who brings a wealth of experience from his previous roles at notable companies such as Mythical Games, Subdream Studios, and Playnery.
Embracing Local Culture and Collaboration
Virtuos Seoul aims to forge strong partnerships with local clients while actively expanding its team through ongoing recruitment efforts. Yoon emphasizes the significance of South Korea’s gaming landscape, stating, “Gaming is deeply ingrained in Korean culture. As the world’s fourth-largest games market, South Korea has produced some of the world’s biggest hits and remains a top gaming hub.”
The establishment of a physical studio in Seoul is a strategic move that allows Virtuos to tackle the unique challenges faced by Korean studios more effectively. This proximity fosters closer co-development and collaboration, ultimately enhancing the creative process.
Yoon expresses enthusiasm for the potential impact of this venture, noting, “We look forward to helping bring more Korean games to the global stage and vice versa, unlocking new audiences for studios and new content for players alike.”
With over 4,000 employees worldwide, Virtuos is a distributed development firm known for its contributions to numerous hit titles. Currently, the company is also engaged in the highly anticipated remake of Metal Gear Solid 3, further solidifying its reputation in the gaming industry.
