In the expansive universe of Obsidian’s space RPG, The Outer Worlds 2, players will find themselves navigating a myriad of quests and challenges. Among these adventures, a return to the ship, the Incognito, becomes essential for any captain looking to familiarize themselves with their vessel’s secrets, particularly the locked Commander’s Safe.
While the contents of this safe may not be crucial for completing the game’s quest list, they offer valuable resources that can significantly enhance your journey through space. Accessing the safe is possible at any stage of your campaign, but seizing the opportunity early on is advisable to maximize the benefits of its contents.
Commander’s Safe Key location
The key to the Commander’s Safe can be discovered within the engine room of the Incognito. To locate it, start from the ship’s loading bay and proceed directly into the engine room. Once inside, crouch beneath the large pipe on the right side of the room, where the key awaits on the ground.
After exiting the cockpit, head to the commander’s room via the first door on the left. From there, turn right towards the terminal and glance to your left to spot the safe. If your Hack skill is sufficiently developed—requiring an investment of four points—you can unlock the safe using a Mag-Pick. However, this may not be feasible at the game’s outset.
Upon opening the Commander’s Safe, you can expect to find the following items:
- Tossball Card: Eva Wierzicki (+1 Toxicity Crash Threshold)
- 313x Bit Cartridge
- 2x Bypass Shunt
- 2x Mag-Pick
- 2x Numb Rum
Interestingly, the Commander’s Safe Key is not hidden away in a particularly secure location, suggesting a certain nonchalance on the part of the Commander regarding the safety of these valuable items. After witnessing the treasures locked away, one might even feel a twinge of sympathy for any potential thieves.
As you embark on your journey, don’t forget to explore additional resources, such as the guides for the Saboteur of Paradise and For Whom The Bridge Tolls quests, to navigate the more challenging aspects of your adventure.
