In a separate incident, Meta’s suite of applications, including Facebook, Instagram, and Threads, experienced significant outages on the afternoon of December 11. Reports of disruptions peaked at over 100,000 for Facebook, according to DownDetector, a platform that tracks service outages. By 1:51 p.m. EST, the number of reported issues had decreased to just under 27,000.

In contrast, the Threads app reported a relatively minor number of outages, with only 914 incidents noted at 1:04 p.m. EST, which decreased to 159 by 2:19 p.m. EST. This indicates that while Meta’s larger platforms faced significant challenges, some of its newer offerings remained more stable during this period.
