In a continuous effort to enhance user experience, Google is rolling out a significant redesign of its Voice Search feature within the Google app on Android. This update, which has been in the works since late last year, aims to elevate the visual appeal of the interface without altering its core functionality.
Voice Search in the Google app gets a major redesign
The revamped Voice Search interface is now accessible to a broader audience, following a successful trial period with a select group of users. According to reports from 9to5Google, the redesign is available to those operating the latest version of the Google app on Android, specifically version 17.1 for stable users and 17.2 for beta testers.
Make sure to be on the latest version of the app
Among the notable changes, users will now see a prominent Google “G” logo positioned at the top center of the Voice Search screen. A new menu has been introduced on the right edge, providing quick access to various settings, including language preferences and voice selection. Enhancing the aesthetic further, a four-color arc appears below the face illustration, reminiscent of the designs seen in AI Mode and Search Live.
The familiar “Search a song” button remains, but it has been enlarged for easier access, leading users to a dedicated song search interface. The redesign replaces the previous sphere animation with straightforward text options: “Play, Sing, Hum,” along with a convenient shortcut to Song Search history.
This fresh design not only improves functionality but also presents a cleaner, more engaging visual experience. To enjoy these updates, users are encouraged to ensure they are using the latest version of the Google app, accessible via the homescreen widget or any Google Search bar within the app.
