Update Instagram if you’re having battery drain issues on Android

Keeping software updated across devices is essential, as neglecting this practice can lead to significant issues. Recently, many Android users have reported an unexpected battery drain, and Google has identified Instagram as a potential cause.

Update Your Instagram App

In a support post on Android’s help site, a Google community manager stated, “Starting today, Instagram is rolling out an updated app that should fix a battery drain issue on Android devices.” Users are encouraged to ensure they have the latest version of the Instagram app, specifically build 382.0.0.49.84, to address this concern.

If you utilize Instagram on any Android device, it’s advisable to visit Google Play to confirm that you have the most recent version installed. To check your current version, simply press and hold the app icon, then select App info.

Earlier this month, 9to5Google highlighted complaints from Pixel device owners who noticed their batteries depleting more rapidly following the May 2025 update. Initially, the source of the battery drain was unclear, but it has now been established that the Instagram app was indeed responsible for the issues affecting Pixel users.

While the exact reason for the Instagram app’s impact on battery life remains a mystery, the importance of keeping applications updated is clearer than ever. Users are reminded that staying current with software can prevent such unforeseen complications in the future.
