Google Meet is set to enhance its user experience with the expansion of its AI-powered note-taking feature, “Take Notes For Me.” Initially launched in 2024, this innovative tool has already attracted over 110 million users in just the past month, showcasing its popularity and utility in the realm of virtual meetings.
Expanding Horizons
In a recent blog post, Google announced that the Take Notes For Me feature will soon be available beyond the confines of the Meet app. This expansion allows users to utilize the tool during various types of meetings, including in-person gatherings and those hosted on platforms such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
For those unfamiliar with the functionality, Take Notes For Me is powered by Google’s Gemini technology. It offers more than mere transcription; it provides a comprehensive summary of discussions and captures detailed notes from meetings. Users can easily access this feature by selecting Take Notes For Me from the Google Meet home screen, whether they are on a mobile device or desktop.
As part of the expanded offering, the tool will not only record conversations but also generate a concise summary and action items, which will be conveniently compiled into a Google Doc. This enhancement is designed to streamline the note-taking process, ensuring that important discussions are documented efficiently.
Google plans to formally announce this exciting expansion at Cloud Next ‘26, which commenced today and will continue until April 24. Alongside the note-taking updates, the tech giant is expected to unveil additional features, including branding elements for Google Vids avatars and the introduction of Gemini auto-browse.
