Yugabyte Announces Sixth Annual Distributed SQL Summit, Unveils Keynote and Lineup of Speakers for November Hybrid Event

Registration is now open for the sixth annual Distributed SQL Summit (DSS 2024), organized by Yugabyte, a leader in distributed PostgreSQL databases for cloud-native applications. The event is set to commence on Tuesday, November 12, at 10:00 am MST, and will be held in a hybrid format, catering to both in-person and virtual attendees.

Event Overview

This summit serves as a vital platform for the distributed SQL community, bringing together Yugabyte customers, partners, and industry thought leaders. Attendees will engage in discussions about the current landscape of distributed transactional databases and explore the potential of distributed SQL in simplifying complexities while fostering a modern data ecosystem. The event is particularly tailored for data architects, developers, and database practitioners from both corporate and open-source backgrounds.

With the theme “Postgres Without Limits,” DSS 2024 aims to illuminate the transformative opportunities that database modernization can unlock. The summit will emphasize the advantages of adopting a cloud-native, PostgreSQL-compatible distributed database for building or enhancing critical applications.

Kicking off the event, Karthik Ranganathan, co-founder and co-CEO of Yugabyte, will present the opening session titled “Harnessing Cloud Native Power with PostgreSQL.” In this session, he will share insights into the company’s vision and roadmap for PostgreSQL compatibility, along with unveiling new features of the latest version of YugabyteDB.

Additionally, Jake Roersma, Senior Vice President of Platform Engineering at Netskope, will deliver the customer keynote session focusing on the construction of critical data infrastructure for modern cloud-native cybersecurity. Other notable speakers include technology leaders and database experts from organizations such as Rakuten and ComplyAdvantage, who will share real-world case studies on topics ranging from resilient electronic health records to advanced data and AI platforms for next-generation telecommunications.

Engagement and Learning Opportunities

The Distributed SQL Summit is designed as an industry event for engineers, by engineers. Participants can expect a range of engaging technical sessions, live demonstrations, and hands-on workshops aimed at exploring various use cases, technologies, and best practices associated with distributed databases.

“As Yugabyte continues to deliver on its vision for distributed PostgreSQL, we’re thrilled to bring together the brightest minds in the industry to discuss the future of distributed SQL,” remarked Karthik Ranganathan. “This summit will provide a platform for database professionals, developers, and architects to learn from each other and explore the innovations driving the next wave of cloud-native, scalable, and resilient databases. We look forward to insightful discussions, knowledge sharing, and community building at DSS 2024.”

Attendees are invited to join online or in person at the Hilton Salt Lake City, coinciding with KubeCon, to delve into the evolving landscape of distributed SQL databases.
