Enhancements to Gemini on Android
In the dynamic world of mobile technology, Google’s Gemini is making strides towards a more intuitive user experience on Android devices. The latest developments suggest that Gemini is set to introduce a feature allowing responses to appear in an overlay on top of current applications, a significant leap from its previous approach of opening responses in a new window.
The revelation, shared by PiunikaWeb, came to light through a video demonstration. The footage, accessible via Google Drive, showcases the overlay functionality in action, with Gemini’s response seamlessly appearing over the Twitter/X app, thereby eliminating the need for users to switch back to the app they were using.
But the innovations don’t stop there. Gemini is reportedly working on a “real-time responses” feature, enabling the display of information as it becomes available. This development was also highlighted by PiunikaWeb, adding to the anticipation of what’s to come.
Collaborations have revealed even more exciting updates. A partnership with Android Authority has shed light on new capabilities for Gemini Advanced subscribers, such as uploading various file types through the Android app—a feature already present in the web version, which currently limits Android users to photo uploads only.
Additionally, a fresh “select text” option is in the works, poised to complement the existing “copy text” function, further enhancing the app’s versatility.
While the exact release date for these features remains under wraps, their functional state suggests that users won’t have to wait long to see these improvements in action.
