Metro Redux games get free next-gen upgrade ahead of Metro 2039

Metro 2033 Redux and Metro Last Light Redux will receive complimentary next-generation updates, with the PC version available on October 22 and PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S updates on October 29. The updates are free for existing owners on supported platforms. Enhancements include 4K textures, improved animations, higher-quality audio, richer environmental detail, and community-requested bug fixes. PC updates will feature DLSS, spatial audio, and platform-specific optimizations, while console players will have native support for 4K resolution at 60 fps or upscaled 4K at 120 fps. Specific console features include PS5 Pro's PSSR, Xbox Series X's TSR upscaling, and spatial audio support on Xbox. The Metro series has sold over 50 million copies worldwide, with the next installment, Metro 2039, set for release on February 4.

Steam’s new Autumn Sale brings hundreds upon hundreds of PC game bargains

Valve has launched the Steam Autumn Sale 2026, featuring discounts on PC games, downloadable content (DLC), and various other offerings. The sale runs until October 8 at 10 AM PT. Major titles on sale include Resident Evil Requiem, Death Stranding 2, Gothic Remake, Forza Horizon 6, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, 007 First Light, Big Walk, and Halo Campaign Evolved. Discounts vary by title, with some games in the Deep Discounts section reduced by 85% to 95%, including Far Cry 6, Jagged Alliance 3, Monster Hunter Rise, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus. The Steam Awards will not be part of this sale.

The best frog in all of gaming, Touch Me, is now appreciable in all its glory thanks to a FF7 model viewer

Pardall Games has released a collection of 3D models from the 1997 game Final Fantasy 7, including a frog model referred to as "my sweet, sweet boy." Users can interact with nearly every model, including characters and summon animations, in a 3D viewer. The viewer allows for rotation of models and comparison with map screens. A notable model is that of Touch Me, which has been renamed Amphidex in the recent Rebirth remake, and can be transformed into a GIF to showcase its animations.

PS5 emulation is already making major progress

A new open-source PS5 emulator for PC called KytyPS5 has made waves by going in-game with various titles including Astro’s Playroom, Crash Bandicoot 4, Hitman: World of Assassination, Uncharted 4, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Silent Hill f, Silent Hill 2 Remake, and Tekken 8. Marvel's Wolverine has also been booted up on the emulator, although gameplay is not shown in a video posted online. Other modified versions of KytyPS5 have shown impressive results with Demon's Souls Remake running at 40-50fps and Silent Hill 2 Remake running on a PC with an integrated Radeon 840M GPU. The developers are making significant strides with the emulator, but it may still be several years before PS5 games can be emulated on Android devices.

Denuvo Suing Prolific Pirate, But They Don’t Seem Worried At All

Voices38 responded casually on Reddit, indicating a lack of concern for the lawsuit. Denuvo's business model relies on selling DRM solutions, and while it cannot sue for copyright infringement, it claims to be harmed by voices38's activities. The lawsuit lists several games that voices38 has allegedly cracked and marks Denuvo's first legal action against a video game pirate in the U.S. The company is also attempting to uncover voices38's true identity and may file subpoenas to gather more information. Public sentiment appears to be against Denuvo, with criticism regarding its software's impact on legitimate users.
