Have a Samsung phone and PC? You need the new Galaxy Connect Windows app

Multi Control allows users to connect their Samsung phone or tablet as a secondary display, enabling seamless control of the mobile device from the primary display. The Second Screen feature lets users utilize a Galaxy tablet as a wireless display for their Windows computer, reducing lag by connecting directly. Storage Share provides access to files on Samsung devices from the PC's File Explorer, and the Continue on other devices feature syncs the clipboard for easier two-factor authentication. Users with ARM-based PCs may face limitations, and some without Intel network adapters have reported issues with Galaxy Connect's functionality.

Android Hackers Target 800 Banking, Crypto and Social Media Apps With ‘Near-Zero Detection Rates’: Zimperium

Android hackers are targeting over 800 applications in banking, cryptocurrency, and social media sectors, utilizing four active malware families: RecruitRat, SaferRat, Astrinox, and Massiv. These malware employ advanced techniques to evade detection and execute credential theft, unauthorized financial transactions, and data exfiltration. Attackers lure victims through phishing websites, fraudulent job offers, fake software updates, text-message scams, and promotional lures. Once installed, the malware can request Accessibility permissions, obscure app icons, obstruct uninstallation, and steal sensitive information through counterfeit lock screens. They can also capture one-time passcodes, stream device screens, and overlay fake login pages on legitimate applications. The malware uses HTTPS and WebSocket communications to blend malicious traffic with normal activity and may incorporate encryption layers to avoid detection.

A malware campaign is utilizing counterfeit Proton VPN websites and other deceptive tactics to distribute a Windows infostealer known as NWHStealer. This malware extracts sensitive information, including browser credentials and cryptocurrency wallet details, and operates stealthily by injecting itself into legitimate processes. Two primary infection vectors have been identified: malicious ZIP archives on a free web hosting platform and trojanized installers from fake Proton VPN sites. The malware employs DLL hijacking and can exfiltrate data to a command-and-control server while ensuring persistence through scheduled tasks and disguising payloads as legitimate system processes. It also exploits the Windows cmstp.exe utility to bypass User Account Control. Users are advised to avoid downloading software from unofficial sources and to verify file signatures and publisher information.

Security researchers find 213 vulnerabilities in Russia’s state-backed messaging app Max

Security researchers discovered 213 vulnerabilities in Max, Russia's state-backed messaging app, during a bug bounty initiative. This information was shared by Alexei Batyuk, CTO of Positive Technologies, at the Svyaz-2026 exhibition. The bug bounty program has been active since July 1, 2025, resulting in 288 accepted vulnerability reports and total payouts of nearly 22 million rubles. Common vulnerabilities could allow unauthorized access to user data through the manipulation of object identifiers. Max's press service claimed that user data is "reliably protected" and emphasized the importance of independent white-hat hackers in identifying vulnerabilities. Max was launched by VK in March 2025 and is being promoted by Russian authorities amid efforts to block other messaging platforms like Telegram and WhatsApp. The app has faced criticisms regarding user surveillance and security vulnerabilities.
