Announcing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.4371 (Beta Channel)

Hello Windows Insiders, today marks the release of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.4371 (KB504498) to the Beta Channel. This update brings a host of changes and improvements designed to enhance your experience. The updates are categorized into two main sections: new features, improvements, and fixes available for Insiders who have opted in for the latest updates, and those rolling out to all users in the Beta Channel. For further details, please refer to the Reminders section at the end of this post.

Changes and Improvements Gradually Being Rolled Out to the Beta Channel with Toggle On*

[Snap]

  • A behind-the-scenes enhancement is underway to refine the app suggestions for snapping within snap layouts. We encourage you to experiment with snapping various apps and share your feedback on any noticeable improvements.

[Narrator]

  • A new shortcut has been introduced: “Narrator key + control + X” allows you to copy the last spoken phrase to the clipboard. This follows the familiar pattern of “Narrator key + X,” which repeats the last spoken phrase, making it easier to memorize similar shortcuts. These tools are particularly useful for quickly copying content, descriptions, or codes/numbers.
  • Narrator will now automatically read the contents of emails in the new Outlook app, mirroring the functionality found in the classic version of Outlook.

Fixes Gradually Being Rolled Out to the Beta Channel with Toggle On*

[File Explorer]

  • Adjustments have been made to ensure that the search box in File Explorer no longer extends beyond the window’s edge.

[Narrator]

  • A performance issue where Narrator would slow down after 15 minutes of continuous use with a single application has been addressed. If you continue to experience delays, please report them via the Feedback Hub.
  • We have resolved an issue where Narrator would announce “contains style” when focusing on text with styling attributes, such as bullets or numbers, across various applications including Microsoft Edge, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Additionally, we fixed a problem where some dialogs in Narrator did not adhere to the 200% text scaling setting in Windows.

Snipping Tool Update

An update for the Snipping Tool (version 11.2409.23.0 and newer) is being rolled out to Windows Insiders in the Beta and Release Preview Channels, introducing a new “Copy as table” feature. This enhancement allows users to copy structured table data effortlessly into emails, documents, or spreadsheets.

To utilize this feature, capture a screenshot containing table data, select “Text actions,” and then choose “Copy as table.” Please note that the current implementation works best when the screenshot includes only one table.

FEEDBACK: Please submit your feedback in the Feedback Hub (WIN + F) under Apps > Snipping Tool.

Reminders for Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel

  • Insiders in the Beta Channel will receive updates based on Windows 11, version 23H2 through an enablement package (Build 22635.xxxx).
  • Many features in the Beta Channel are rolled out using Control Feature Rollout technology, starting with a select group of Insiders and gradually expanding as feedback is monitored.
  • For those eager to receive features gradually rolled out to you, ensure the toggle is turned ON to access the latest updates via Settings > Windows Update*. Over time, feature rollouts will increase for those with the toggle activated. If the toggle is off, new features will still be rolled out to your device over time once they are ready.
  • It’s important to note that features and experiences included in these builds may not be released publicly, as we explore various concepts and gather feedback. Features may evolve, be removed, or replaced and may not extend beyond the Windows Insiders program. Some may appear in future Windows releases when they’re ready.
  • Localization for features in active development may not be fully completed and will be addressed over time as features are finalized. If you encounter localization issues, please report them via the Feedback Hub.
  • As the Dev and Beta Channels represent parallel development paths, there may be instances where features debut in the Beta Channel first.
  • For a comprehensive overview of which build is in which Insider channel, please check out Flight Hub.

Thanks,
Amanda & Brandon
