Announcing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26220.6982 (Dev Channel)

October 25, 2025

Hello Windows Insiders, today marks the release of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26220.6982 (KB5067109) to the Dev Channel. This update introduces a variety of new features, improvements, and fixes that are being systematically rolled out to those who have opted in to receive the latest updates through the Settings menu under Windows Update.

New features gradually being rolled out to the Dev Channel with toggle on*

[Windows Search Box]

  • Among the notable enhancements is the introduction of Copy & Search. This feature streamlines the search process by allowing users to search for text copied to the clipboard with just a click. When text is copied, a paste gleam will appear in the search box. Clicking this gleam populates the search field with the copied text, enabling immediate search capabilities. To utilize this feature, follow these steps:
    • Copy text from any document, webpage, or application.
    • Observe the paste gleam appearing in the search box on the taskbar.
    • Click the paste gleam to initiate a search for the copied text.
Copying any text in Windows (in this case Office) adds a paste gleam to the Search field on Taskbar.

[Voice Typing]

  • For users on Copilot+ PCs, a new ‘Wait time before acting’ setting has been introduced in Voice Typing. This feature allows users to set a delay before a voice command is executed, accommodating various speech patterns for improved accuracy.
Voice typing settings support “Wait time before acting” with timing options ranging from “Instant – 0.1 seconds” to “Very Long – 3.0 seconds.”

[Proactive Memory Diagnostics]

  • A new feature aimed at enhancing system reliability is being rolled out. If your PC experiences an unexpected restart, a notification will prompt you to run a quick memory scan upon signing in. If you opt to proceed, a Windows Memory Diagnostic scan will be scheduled for your next reboot, typically taking five minutes or less. Should any memory issues be detected and resolved, a notification will appear post-reboot. Please note:
    • This initial rollout includes all bugcheck codes as triggers while we analyze the relationship between memory corruption and crashes. Future builds will refine this targeting.
    • This experience is currently unsupported on Arm64 devices, systems with Administrator Protection, or BitLocker without Secure Boot.

Changes and Improvements gradually being rolled out to the Dev Channel with toggle on*

[Settings]

  • The Device Cards in Settings have been revamped for enhanced clarity and readability, facilitating a more streamlined navigation experience.
  • The About section in Settings has been improved to offer a more structured and intuitive interface, providing users with valuable device insights and quick access to related components, including Storage settings.
  • Search: Users can now scroll through all search results directly in the flyout, eliminating the need to navigate to a separate results page.
A scrollbar is added to the Settings search results flyout to display all results.

[Click to Do]

  • We’re enhancing user experience in Click to Do by introducing helpful hints that guide users in discovering powerful actions for efficient workflow.
    • A hint will now appear upon launching Click to Do, assisting unfamiliar users in navigating its features.
    • Known issue: In multi-monitor setups, hints may appear on every display, and closing one does not dismiss the others.

[Start menu]

  • Windows Insiders will notice that the larger Start menu flyout now aligns in size with the Windows Search flyout, creating a more cohesive search experience.

[Fixes gradually being rolled out to the Dev Channel with toggle on*
[General]

  • Addressed an issue where text actions using Phi Silica in Click to Do and Recall were not functioning correctly in the previous build.

[Input]

  • Corrected an issue where the touch keyboard would not disappear after logging into the PC when used to input the password on the login screen.

[File Explorer]

  • Fixed an issue causing the search icon in File Explorer to loop infinitely in animation.

[Widgets]

  • Resolved an issue preventing widgets from logging in, which should now function correctly.

Known issues

[General]

  • [NEW] An underlying issue is being investigated that affects the functionality of keyboards or other USB devices for a small number of Insiders following the latest flights.

[Taskbar & System Tray]

  • We are looking into an issue causing the Start menu to not open on click for some Insiders, although it remains accessible via the Windows key. This may also impact the notification center.
  • [NEW] An investigation is underway regarding apps not appearing in the system tray for certain Insiders.

[File Explorer]

  • In dark mode, the copy dialog may experience flashing during detail adjustments.
  • Scrollbar and footer issues have been noted, displaying as a white block instead when text is scaled in dark mode.

Reminders for Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel

  • Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel receive updates based on Windows 11, version 25H2 via an enablement package (Build 26220.xxxx).
  • Many features in the Dev Channel are rolled out using Controlled Feature Rollout technology, beginning with a subset of Insiders and gradually expanding as feedback is monitored.
  • To be among the first to receive features gradually rolled out to you, ensure the toggle is ON in Settings > Windows Update*. If the toggle is off, new features will be rolled out over time as they become ready.
  • Features and experiences included in these builds may not be released, as we explore different concepts and gather feedback. Changes may occur, and some features may be removed or replaced before final release.
  • Localization for some features in active development may not be complete, and we encourage reporting any localization issues via the Feedback Hub.
  • Some accessibility features may not function with features like Recall and Click to Do while in preview.
  • As the Dev and Beta Channels represent parallel development paths, features may appear in the Beta Channel first.
  • For a comprehensive overview of build statuses across Insider channels, refer to Flight Hub.

Thanks,
Amanda
