Hello Windows Insiders,
Enhancements to Microsoft Copilot App
The Microsoft Copilot app on Windows is undergoing a significant transformation with the rollout of a new update, designed to enhance user experience and streamline productivity. This update introduces a range of features that promise to refine how users interact with text editing tasks.
Copilot Actions for Text Editing is a standout feature, allowing users to rewrite, refine, or edit text seamlessly during Copilot Vision sessions. This innovation facilitates real-time collaboration, making it easier than ever to enhance written content. To initiate a Vision session, simply open the Copilot app and click the glasses icon located in the bottom right corner of the chat bar. From there, users can select the window containing the document or application they wish to share, prompting Copilot to analyze the on-screen content.
Once the session is active, users can engage with the text by placing their cursor in any text field and speaking naturally. Commands like “rewrite this to be more formal,” “make this clearer,” or “simplify this text” will prompt Copilot to suggest edits directly within the flow of work. A preview of the suggested changes will appear, allowing users to either accept or further refine the recommendations without losing focus on their tasks.
It’s important to note that Copilot Vision is an opt-in feature, activated solely at the user’s discretion. To utilize Copilot Actions for text editing, users must enable the corresponding toggle in the Copilot App settings. This toggle also grants access to Copilot Actions for long-running tasks, a unique offering available in Copilot Labs.
The team at Microsoft is committed to continuously exploring ways in which Copilot can empower users to enhance productivity, create high-quality content, and minimize the initial hurdles of starting new projects. Feedback from users is invaluable, and the team is actively refining these features based on real-world usage and insights.
The latest update of the Copilot app (version 1.25121.60.0 and higher) is now being rolled out across all Insider Channels via the Microsoft Store. To access Copilot Actions for text editing, users will need to be on Windows version 26200.6899 or later. This feature is being gradually made available to Windows Insiders globally, with some exceptions, so users may experience varying availability.
The Microsoft Copilot Team looks forward to sharing these advancements with the Insider community, ensuring an exceptional Copilot experience for all Windows users.
