New Features in Microsoft Copilot App Update
The Microsoft Copilot app on Windows is set to enhance user interaction with the introduction of a new update, bringing forth exciting changes and improvements designed to elevate the overall experience.
Vision with Text-in, Text-out: One of the standout features of this update is the ability for Windows Insiders to engage with Copilot Vision through text. Previously, users could only interact via voice, with Copilot providing guidance audibly. Now, you can share any app or screen, allowing Copilot to analyze, offer insights, or answer your queries directly in text format within the same chat window.
To initiate this feature, simply click the glasses icon in your composer, toggle off the ‘Start with voice’ setting, and select the app or screen you wish to share with Copilot. A glow will appear around the shared app or window, indicating that you are set to begin. Type your questions, and Copilot will respond in text, seamlessly continuing the conversation. If you wish to switch back to voice interaction, just press the mic button, and the session will transition accordingly. To end the sharing session, you can easily click ‘Stop’ or ‘X’ in the composer.
As Microsoft continues to explore the capabilities of Vision, some functionalities, such as highlights that visually point out elements on the screen, are not yet supported in this release. Users are encouraged to share their experiences directly within the Copilot app by clicking on their profile icon and selecting “Give feedback.”
Whether you find yourself without headphones or simply prefer to communicate via text, Vision is designed to accommodate your needs in whichever scenario suits you best.
This update, identified as version 1.25103.107 and higher, is currently rolling out across all Insider Channels via the Microsoft Store. The new features will be gradually available, so not all Insiders will receive the update simultaneously. Microsoft is eager to preview these improvements with its Insiders, ensuring that all customers enjoy an exceptional Copilot experience on Windows.
