Windows Insider Program Updates
Last Friday marked a significant moment for the Windows Insider Program, which has unveiled two new builds this week, both nestled within the Release Preview Channel. As anticipation builds for the upcoming enhancements to Windows 11, users can expect some of the most notable changes to debut with the September Patch Tuesday.
The updates encompass a range of features designed to enhance user experience and functionality:
- Taskbar: Users can now position the Taskbar on any side of their screen and resize it to their liking.
- Start Menu: The revamped Start menu is now resizable and introduces a Recent section that replaces the previous Recommended section, along with independent toggles for Pinned, Recent, and All items.
- Windows Search: A streamlined home view makes for a less cluttered experience, allowing users to choose whether to display web and Store results.
- File Explorer: Enhancements focus on performance and touch scrolling, providing a smoother navigation experience.
- Design: Windows 11 now features updated progress indicators that appear during startup, sign-in, restart, shutdown, and update installations.
- Windows Share: A subtle change introduces a suggested app interface to improve sharing options.
- Administrator Protection: This feature makes a return, albeit disabled by default to avoid potential annoyance for most users.
- Additional Minor Updates: Enhancements span across multiple desktops, display settings, Task Manager, Setup, Windows Update, and more.
In addition to these significant updates, there are further refinements that enhance the overall user experience:
- File Explorer: Minor adjustments include improvements in file size displays, middle-click support, and enhanced file thumbnails.
- Windows Search: Tweaks have been made to better accommodate typos and partial app names, along with results based on user Settings.
- Additional Minor Changes: Updates have also been made across Start, Widgets, Touchpad, Windows Hello, and various other components.
