A recent update to Mixed Reality Link has notably improved the user experience by enabling direct access to your headset’s microphone and cameras within the Windows environment.
Mixed Reality Link is an innovative application that facilitates the connection of up to three virtual monitors on a compatible headset to your PC. This allows users to expand their computing capabilities to devices such as the Meta Quest 3 or Meta Quest 3S, with support for both wired and wireless connections.
However, previous iterations of Mixed Reality Link had limitations that hindered usability. For instance, if users wanted to utilize a microphone, they were required to connect an external one to their PC and communicate from a distance—a rather cumbersome setup. Given that mixed reality headsets come equipped with built-in microphones, it was surprising that such integration took so long to materialize.
The latest update, version 26.9105.9070.0, addresses these issues by introducing support for using the headset’s microphone, sharing the headset’s camera with Windows applications, and allowing your Meta avatar to function as a camera source.
