Nvidia has unveiled its latest GeForce Game Ready Driver, enhancing support for Windows 10 devices and introducing optimizations for select games and G-Sync compatible displays. This driver is now available for immediate download from Nvidia’s official website.
Extended Support for Windows 10
The newly released Game Ready Driver extends support for GeForce RTX GPUs until October 2026. This decision comes in light of Microsoft’s plan to end support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025. For users who have yet to transition to a newer operating system, Nvidia’s move represents a significant extension, ensuring continued access to zero-day optimizations for newly launched games and applications.
This proactive approach provides users with additional time to consider upgrading their operating systems, allowing for a smoother transition when they choose to make the switch.
The Market Landscape
Despite the passage of nearly a decade since its launch, Windows 10 remains a popular operating system. Data shows that Microsoft has faced challenges in persuading users to migrate to Windows 11 ahead of the impending end-of-life date for Windows 10. As of July 2025, Windows 11 had only recently surpassed Windows 10 in market share, holding 52 percent compared to Windows 10’s 44.59 percent.
Support for Older GPUs
Nvidia is also extending support for older GPUs. Following the final Game Ready Driver release in October 2025, Maxwell, Pascal, and Volta-based GeForce cards will continue to receive quarterly security updates until October 2028, effectively extending their support lifespan to an impressive 11 years. However, it is important to note that support updates for Nvidia’s CUDA architecture will be discontinued for these older cards in the upcoming CUDA Toolkit update, which may impact users relying on these GPUs for CUDA-based applications.
New Features and Enhancements
This Game Ready driver update also introduces support for an additional 62 monitor displays compatible with Nvidia’s G-Sync variable refresh rate technology. Furthermore, gamers can expect performance improvements for titles such as Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Mafia: The Old Country, which is set to release on August 8th.
