Windows 11, Version 25H2 Now Available for Preview
Windows Insiders are in for a treat as the latest annual feature update, Windows 11, version 25H2 (Build 26200.5074), is now accessible in the Release Preview Channel. This exciting development allows customers to explore the new features ahead of its general release later this year.
This update will be delivered as an enablement package (eKB), which signifies that both Windows 11, version 24H2 and version 25H2 share a common servicing branch. Consequently, users can expect a seamless integration of new features and enhancements, a testament to Microsoft’s commitment to continuous innovation.
However, it is important to note that Windows 11, version 25H2 will also see the removal of certain features, including PowerShell 2.0 and the Windows Management Instrumentation command-line (WMIC). For commercial customers, this version introduces a significant enhancement: IT administrators can now remove select pre-installed Microsoft Store apps via Group Policy or MDM CSP on Enterprise and EDU devices.
For those eager to experience Windows 11, version 25H2, Insiders in the Release Preview Channel can utilize the “seeker” experience in Windows Update. If your PC meets the Windows 11 hardware requirements, simply navigate to Settings and select Windows Update to download and install the latest version. Once updated, your device will continue to receive regular servicing updates through the standard monthly update process.
Commercial customers participating in the Windows Insider Program for Business can also begin validating Windows 11, version 25H2 within their organizations. This version is available through Windows Update for Business (WUfB) and Windows Server Update Service (WSUS), with the Azure Marketplace set to launch later today. For organizations deploying Release Preview updates, Microsoft Support is on hand to assist with any issues that may arise.
