This edition is tailored specifically for enterprise users, which means personal Microsoft accounts are not an option during setup.
Bypassing the Work/School Account Requirement
During our exploration of the Windows 11 LTSC installation process, we encountered the mandatory work or school account prompt. Initially, we attempted the oobebypassnro command, a method that had proven effective in prior versions. However, this time, it fell short, leading us back to the same account requirement screen after a restart.
Next, we disconnected from the internet and tried again, but the setup remained obstinate. A more creative approach involved launching the command prompt via Shift + F10, accessing Task Manager, and terminating the Microsoft Account process. This maneuver revealed the elusive “I don’t have internet” option, allowing us to proceed with a local account setup without the hassle of security questions.
Notably, the Out-of-Box Experience (OOBE) was refreshingly free from adware, tracking, or promotional content, a feature we believe would greatly benefit consumer editions of Windows 11, although we remain skeptical about any forthcoming changes in that regard.
Windows 11 LTSC is clean.
Upon booting into the desktop environment, the initial impression is one of simplicity rather than antiquity. However, the distinction becomes apparent when accessing the Start menu, which reveals a stark contrast to the clutter often found in consumer versions. Windows 11 LTSC 2024 includes the new Outlook web app by default, enhancing its functionality.
As we examined the system apps, many appeared to be throwbacks to Windows 7, particularly the Snipping Tool and Paint, which remain locked in their legacy forms. Microsoft has reserved the latest iterations of these applications for its Pro and Home editions.
Despite the nostalgic feel, the new inbox apps come equipped with modern features, such as background removal in Paint and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) in Snipping Tool, showcasing a blend of old and new.
Customization options are limited in the unactivated version of Windows 11 LTSC. Most personalization features are locked, and previous loopholes have been patched, making it clear that Microsoft is keen on encouraging users to purchase a license. This trend is consistent across all Windows 11 editions.
File Explorer in Windows 11 LTSC boasts several enhancements, including the ability to duplicate tabs and support for various compression formats like TAR. However, the overall user interface does not exhibit the polish found in the standard editions. The LTSC version prioritizes a no-nonsense approach, avoiding the overload of features that often accompany regular updates. Users will find no AI components or bloatware, although access to Copilot remains available through the preinstalled Edge browser.
Without the Microsoft Store, users must download applications directly from official websites and rely on manual updates for system apps. This edition is best suited for those who prefer a clean operating system with minimal distractions and do not require frequent feature updates.
