We’re talking about the best of Windows 11, and we want your input.

Expressions of affection for Windows are common, and while my position at Windows Central isn’t to serve as a cheerleader for the operating system, my enthusiasm for its capabilities is undeniable. Windows is a cornerstone for billions, including myself, the dedicated team at Windows Central, and our engaged readership. Despite some shortcomings in Windows 11—which I will not dwell on—it remains an essential tool for productivity, creativity, and communication.

Qualcomm’s Future with Windows

The Microsoft Store has transformed into a reliable and secure platform for discovering and downloading applications on Windows. It deserves another chance from those who may have overlooked it in the past.

The Windows Package Manager, affectionately known as winget, is a tool I hold in high regard, alongside PowerToys, which I recommend as essential for Windows 11 users. The Command Palette, an evolution of PowerToys Run, serves as a refreshing alternative to the Windows 11 Start Menu, allowing users to launch applications using just the keyboard. Its capabilities extend further, enabling command execution, software installation via the Windows Package Manager, and the integration of third-party extensions for enhanced functionality.

Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) offers a genuine Linux experience within the Windows 11 environment, eliminating the need for a full virtual machine. As a Linux enthusiast, I appreciate this feature, which provides developers with a seamless way to run Linux applications without leaving the Windows ecosystem.

Phone Link addresses several challenges, including effortless photo transfers, making it one of the most convenient tools I rely on daily.
