Google Play Games Expands Support to AMD-Powered PCs and Laptops
Google has announced a significant expansion of its Google Play Games service at this year’s Game Developer’s Conference. The company is now making Android games available on laptops and PCs powered by AMD processors, a move that opens up access to a wider range of users.
Previously, Google Play Games only supported devices with dedicated GPUs and Intel integrated graphics. With this update, users with AMD CPUs can now access the full catalog of mobile games on their PCs and laptops.
Google is also introducing new tools for developers to optimize their games for PC, including a Play Games PC SDK that allows developers to manage both PC and mobile game builds in one place. Additionally, each game will display a playability badge to indicate whether it is optimized, playable, or incompatible with a user’s hardware.
Furthermore, Google is partnering with PC OEMs to pre-install Google Play Games on new hardware, starting this year. The app, which has seen significant growth in its game library over the past year, will also offer popular features like multi-account and multi-instance support.
Overall, this expansion of Google Play Games to AMD-powered devices represents a major step towards making Android gaming more accessible and enjoyable for a wider audience.
