Hello Windows Insiders, today marks the release of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.5733 (KB5062673) to the Beta Channel for users on Windows 11, version 24H2. This update introduces a variety of new features, improvements, and fixes, which are being rolled out gradually for those who have opted in to receive the latest updates through Settings > Windows Update.
Changes and Improvements gradually being rolled out to the Beta Channel with toggle on*
[File Explorer]
- For Windows Insiders logged in with a work or school account (Entra ID), File Explorer will now display people icons in the “Activity” column on the File Explorer Home page, as well as in the “Recommended” section at the top. Hovering over or clicking these icons will reveal the Live Persona Card for that individual from Microsoft 365.
[Settings]
- The option to “Manage or clear your Bing search history” has been removed from Settings > Privacy & security > Search under Search history. Users can now manage their Bing search history directly through the Privacy dashboard, accessible via the Privacy resources link under Related settings.
Fixes gradually being rolled out to the Beta Channel with toggle on*
[Start menu]
- An issue causing the Start menu to crash for some Insiders in recent builds has been resolved.
[Taskbar & System Tray]
- Fixed a problem where clicking and sliding the mouse on the taskbar preview thumbnail would prevent further clicks from functioning.
[Lock screen]
- A crash that affected the display of widgets on the lock screen has been fixed, allowing users to add new widgets once again.
[Input]
- Resolved an issue from the previous flight that hindered multi-finger touchpad gestures.
Known issues
[General]
- Some Windows Insiders may encounter a rollback when attempting to install this update, accompanied by a 0x80070005 error in Windows Update. A fix is in progress for those affected. If you experience this, using Settings > System > Recovery > “Fix issues using Windows update” might resolve the issue.
- [NEW] We are addressing an underlying issue with dao360.dll that is causing some applications to crash after the previous flight.
[Start menu]
- [NEW] Insiders with the new Start menu may see an unexpected category for every letter of the alphabet with blank icons when accessing the “All” section after updating. Switching views and then returning should rectify this issue.
[File Explorer]
- [NEW] In dark mode, the red indicator for low space on drives in This PC may appear lighter than expected. Other colors may also be affected, with black being used for remaining space instead of a more visible hue.
[Click to Do (Preview)]
The following known issues will be addressed in future updates:
- Windows Insiders on AMD or Intel®-powered Copilot+ PCs may experience delays on their first attempt to perform intelligent text actions in Click to Do after a new build or model update.
[Live Captions]
- Live captions may crash when attempting to utilize live translation on a Copilot+ PC.
[Xbox Controllers]
- Some Insiders are facing an issue where using their Xbox Controller via Bluetooth leads to a bugcheck on their PC. To resolve this, open Device Manager by searching for it in the taskbar. Once open, click on “View” and then “Devices by Driver.” Locate the driver named “oemXXX.inf (XboxGameControllerDriver.inf)” and right-click to uninstall it.
Reminders for Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel
- Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel on Windows 11, version 24H2 will receive updates based on Windows 11, version 24H2 via an enablement package (Build 26120.xxxx).
- Updates delivered to the Beta Channel provide a preview of enhancements to servicing technology on Windows 11, version 24H2. For further details, visit this link.
- Many features in the Beta Channel are rolled out using Controlled Feature Rollout technology, starting with a select group of Insiders and gradually expanding as feedback is monitored.
- Insiders wishing to be among the first to receive features gradually rolled out to you can enable the toggle for the latest updates via Settings > Windows Update. Over time, we will increase the rollout of features for those with the toggle activated. If the toggle is off, new features will be introduced to your PC over time as they become ready.
- Features and experiences included in these builds may not be released widely, as we explore various concepts and gather feedback. Features may evolve, be removed, or replaced without a broader release beyond Windows Insiders. Some may appear in future Windows releases when they’re ready.
- Some actively developed features previewed with Windows Insiders may not be fully localized initially, with localization occurring as features are finalized. Please report any localization issues via the Feedback Hub.
- Note that certain accessibility features may not function with features like Recall and Click to Do while in preview with Windows Insiders.
- As the Dev and Beta Channels represent parallel development paths, there may be instances where features and experiences debut in the Beta Channel first.
- For a comprehensive overview of which build is in which Insider channel, check out Flight Hub.

Amanda & Brandon
