September 30, 2025

Hello Windows Insiders, today marks the release of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26220.6760 (KB5065793) to the Dev Channel for those on Windows 11, version 25H2. This update brings a host of changes, improvements, and fixes, meticulously documented in two categories: features that are gradually rolling out for Insiders who have opted to receive the latest updates, and those enhancements available to all within the Dev Channel. For further details, please refer to the Reminders section at the end of this post.

Changes and Improvements gradually being rolled out to the Dev Channel with toggle on*

[Taskbar & System Tray]

  • The taskbar now features a built-in network speed test, accessible via the Wi-Fi and Cellular Quick Settings pages or by right-clicking the network icon in the system tray. This tool opens in your default browser and supports testing Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and Cellular connections, aiding in network performance assessment and troubleshooting.

[Get Started/Microsoft 365 Copilot]

  • A new Microsoft 365 Copilot page has been added to the Get Started experience for managed commercial devices with an active Microsoft 365 subscription. This enhancement aims to facilitate user engagement with Microsoft 365 Copilot, offering quick access to essential features and guidance within the Get Started flow.

[Windows Search]

  • For Insiders utilizing Copilot+ PCs, the File Explorer Search Box placeholder text has been updated to highlight the improved Windows Search experience introduced earlier this year.

Changes and Improvements gradually being rolled out to everyone in the Dev Channel

[File Explorer]

  • New! StorageProvider APIs are now available for cloud providers to integrate with File Explorer Home. Developer documentation can be accessed for further insights.

[Emoji]

  • Emoji 16.0 has been temporarily disabled and will be reintroduced in a future release.

[Voice access]

  • A new ‘Wait time before acting’ setting has been introduced in voice access, allowing users to customize the delay before a voice command is executed. This feature enhances flexibility for users with varying speech patterns, ensuring more accurate recognition whether speaking slowly or quickly.

Fixes gradually being rolled out to the Dev Channel with toggle on*

[General]

  • An underlying issue affecting some screen readers, which prevented them from reading screen content after the latest updates, has been resolved.

[Click to Do (Preview)]

  • A fix has been implemented for an issue where Click to Do might unexpectedly activate when pressing WIN + P.

[Taskbar & System Tray]

  • An issue where the battery icon could become out of sync with the actual charging state has been addressed.

[File Explorer]

  • A fix has been made for a problem where customized folder views did not carry over when accessing the same folder from different applications.

[Lock and Login screens]

  • An issue where media controls were not displayed on the lock screen while media was playing has been corrected.

[Windows Update]

  • A fix has been applied to resolve an issue that caused “Update and shutdown” to not function as intended.

[Settings]

  • Several fixes have been made to address crashes in Settings when accessing drive information and to correct the alignment of placeholder text in the Settings search box.

Fixes for everyone in the Dev Channel

[Networking]

  • A fix has been implemented for an issue preventing connections to shared files and folders when using the Server Message Block (SMB) v1 protocol.

[For Developers]

  • An issue where PIX on Windows could not playback GPU captures has been resolved with a new PIX release.

Known issues

[Click to Do]

  • Launching Click to Do via a right-edge gesture on the primary display may result in swipe visuals appearing on the incorrect display, which is currently under investigation.

[Taskbar & System Tray]

  • New animations on taskbar previews have been temporarily disabled due to interference with window sharing from previews. We will notify users when these are reinstated.
  • Issues related to the taskbar’s automatic hiding feature are being addressed, including unexpected peeking of the system tray.

[Search]

  • Certain searches may yield unexpected text instead of the anticipated results and images.

[Windows Studio Effects]

  • Some external webcams may experience camera preview failures when “Use Windows Studio Effects” is enabled due to compatibility issues. Users are advised to disable this feature until a future update resolves the problem.

[Xbox Controllers]

  • Some Insiders are encountering bugcheck issues when using Xbox Controllers via Bluetooth. A workaround involves uninstalling the specific driver through Device Manager.

Reminders for Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel

  • Updates for Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel are based on Windows 11, version 25H2 and are delivered through an enablement package (Build 26220.xxxx).
  • Features in the Dev Channel are rolled out using Controlled Feature Rollout technology, starting with a subset of Insiders and expanding as feedback is monitored.
  • Insiders wishing to receive features as they become available can enable the toggle in Settings > Windows Update. Those who keep the toggle off will receive updates gradually over time.
  • Features in development may not be fully localized and could change or be removed based on feedback.
  • Accessibility features may not function with certain preview features like Recall and Click to Do.
  • As the Dev and Beta Channels represent parallel development paths, some features may appear in the Beta Channel first.
