Hypixel Studios is poised to unveil the early access release date for the much-anticipated Hytale next week. In a prelude to this announcement, the studio has confirmed that the standard edition of the game will be available for .99. For those seeking a more personalized experience, two special editions will be offered at .99 and .99, featuring unique cosmetics such as capes and hats.
Simon Collins-Laflamme, the founder of Hypixel Studios, expressed his commitment to accessibility in a recent post on X. He emphasized that the pricing is “as aggressively low as possible,” acknowledging the considerable personal risk involved after repurchasing the game and expanding his team to 50 members. Collins-Laflamme’s goal is to ensure that as many players as possible can enjoy Hytale, particularly in light of current economic challenges. For those who wish to contribute further to the game’s development, options are available at the Supporter and Cupbreaker levels.
“I said I was all in, and I am delivering on that promise,” Collins-Laflamme stated. He candidly noted that the game is still unfinished, operating on a build from over four years ago. He believes that charging a higher price would not align with the current state of the game. “My team and I will push hard to make it good, then great. The vision is clear and progress is fast,” he added.
Acquisition and Future Plans
On Monday, Hypixel announced its acquisition of the rights to the survival game after League of Legends developer Riot Games decided to cancel Hytale in June. While the specific terms of the deal remain undisclosed, the studio has confirmed its independence and is already working on a revised version of the game.
“This game has always been close to my heart, and I’m excited to bring it back home,” Collins-Laflamme shared on X following the announcement. He was transparent about the current state of Hytale, describing it as “messy” and “janky,” with substantial work still ahead. His intention is to release the game as soon as possible, allowing players to experience it in its raw form. “It won’t be perfect on day one. My hope is that together, we’ll shape it into something truly special,” he remarked.
By Wednesday, the Hypixel team had already released a 16-minute gameplay trailer, showcasing a world reminiscent of Minecraft but with enhanced combat features. This evolution makes sense, given that Hytale originated from a Minecraft server called Hypixel. While Riot Games initially supported the studio’s inception in 2018, they acquired it outright in 2020, with the game originally slated for a 2021 release.
