Split Fiction studio Hazelight celebrates selling 50 million games in under 10 years

Hazelight Studios has carved a niche for itself in the gaming industry, specializing in co-op action adventures that resonate with players. Their 2021 release, It Takes Two, received accolades for its engaging gameplay, achieving an impressive 80% review score and being hailed as “a brilliant co-op adventure with a wild amount of variety.” Following this success, their 2025 title, Split Fiction, elevated the studio’s reputation further, garnering an 87% score with its description as “an incredibly inventive, rapid-fire co-op adventure that never breaks its stride.”

Remarkable Sales Milestone

In a recent announcement on X, Hazelight revealed that their trio of co-op titles—A Way Out, It Takes Two, and Split Fiction—has collectively surpassed an astonishing 50 million copies sold. The breakdown of sales is as follows:

  • A Way Out: 13 million copies
  • It Takes Two: 30 million copies
  • Split Fiction: 7 million copies

The studio expressed their gratitude to fans, stating, “We’re stunned and amazed how many fans have enjoyed our games 🤯😍. Your love and support keeps us going, and we can’t wait to show you our fourth game… 😉”

While A Way Out has achieved remarkable sales over eight years, it is noteworthy that Split Fiction has made significant strides in just one year. The latter’s sales figures suggest a promising trajectory, and if it follows a similar growth pattern as its predecessor, the future looks bright. With time, Split Fiction may very well catch up to its older sibling.

In line with their commitment to innovation, Hazelight has hinted at exciting developments on the horizon. In February, the studio teased their next project on X, stating they are “back in the kitchen, cookin’ up something really delicious.”
