Minecraft 26.2 Snapshot 2

A surprise second snapshot for version 26.2 has been released, addressing several critical issues and crashes that were present in the earlier version launched earlier this week. This update aims to enhance the gaming experience for players, ensuring smoother gameplay and improved performance.

  • Players will notice that upgrading certain worlds from prior to version 26.1 can now be accomplished more swiftly, enhancing the overall efficiency of the game.

Technical Changes

  • The <span class="MCEffectTextHighlightA”>fps F3 screen entry has been updated to provide more detailed information regarding the type of present mode in use, such as <span class="MCEffectTextHighlightA”>mailbox or <span class="MCEffectTextHighlightA”>fifo relaxed, rather than simply indicating <span class="MCEffectTextHighlightA”>vsync.

Fixed Bugs in 26.2 Snapshot 2

  • MC-306840 – Resolved an issue where dolphins would drown when no players were nearby.
  • MC-307286 – Fixed a bug that prevented the game process from terminating upon exiting.
  • MC-307296 – Addressed a softlock that occurred when launching the game with an incompatible resource pack modifying core shaders.
  • MC-307311 – Core shaders will now load correctly without requiring a restart when using Vulkan.
  • MC-307320 – Resolved a crash issue that prevented the game from opening and affected some GPUs when using Vulkan.
  • MC-307349 – Fixed a crash that occurred before the game could open.
  • MC-307383 – The “Exclusive Fullscreen” setting is now functional with the Vulkan rendering backend.

Get the Snapshot

Snapshots are available for Minecraft: Java Edition. To install the latest Snapshot, players should open the Minecraft Launcher and enable snapshots in the “Installations” tab. It is important to note that testing versions can corrupt your world, so please ensure to back up your data and/or run them in a separate folder from your main worlds.
