Indie publisher New Blood has listened to over 1,000 voicemails left on its old-school tip line, including suggestions like ‘you ever think about making a game where you fight bugs?’

On April 1, the indie game studio New Blood made waves with the launch of a unique tip line, inviting fans to share their thoughts and ideas. A month later, this initiative has proven to be more than just an April Fools’ joke; the tip line remains active, welcoming insights from enthusiasts of titles such as Dusk, Faith, Ultrakill, Gloomwood, Fallen Aces, Blood West, Tenebrous Somnia, and the highly anticipated Untitled Classic Fallout-style RPG.

The original announcement featured a whimsical video showcasing in-character messages from various contributors at New Blood. Voice actor Gianni Matragrano lent his talents to portray a Gloomwood Huntsman, while composer Andrew Hulshult embodied the protagonist of Amid Evil. This playful approach not only captured the studio’s creative spirit but also set the tone for the ongoing interaction with fans.

New Blood has shared snippets of fan contributions, including a particularly amusing voicemail suggesting a game centered around “fighting bugs,” a nod to current trends. The studio has reported that it has listened to over 1,000 voicemails thus far, expressing gratitude for the myriad of messages received—ranging from questions and kind words to food orders and inquiries about the state of their refrigerator.

Among the studio’s recent highlights is the latest layer of Ultrakill, dubbed “Fraud,” which showcases innovative 3D rendering techniques that blur the lines between illusion and reality. Fans are eager for more of this creativity in future games. Additionally, New Blood has announced the upcoming release of Scavengers, a roguelike DLC for Blood West, set to launch on June 3.
