A trilogy of beloved SNES-exclusive titles is set to make its debut on PC this month, with a release date scheduled for June 29. Following an earlier re-release on the Nintendo Switch, which was limited to Japan, this new offering will be available globally through Steam. This marks a significant moment for fans in the West, as it is the first time this nostalgic collection will be accessible outside of Japan. However, it is important to note that the collection will only support the Japanese language, which may limit its appeal for those who do not speak the language.
A Closer Look at the Collection
Sting has officially announced the upcoming release of Dokapon 3-2-1: Super Collection! on PC via Steam. This collection features three titles: Dokapon Kingdom IV: The Legendary Heroes, Dokapon 3-2-1: Arashi o Yobu Yuujou (Friendship That Stirs the Storm), and Dokapon Gaiden: Flame no Audition. Originally launched between 1993 and 1995, these games have remained exclusive to the SNES and have never been localized for English-speaking audiences. While they did see a release on the Nintendo DS, the absence of an English localization has left fans yearning for a more accessible version.
“Legend, friendship, and fire—three Dokapon adventures unite in one collection,” proclaims the official tagline accompanying the trailer. “It may look like an RPG or a board game… But underneath lies an anything-goes, free-for-all sugoroku RPG experience!”
Enhancements and Features
While these classic titles have not undergone a full remastering, Sting has confirmed that they will feature several enhancements. Players can look forward to the ability to save and load at any point during gameplay, a rewind function for those moments when a second chance is needed, and adjustable game speeds ranging from 0.5x to 3x. Additionally, the original manuals will be included, along with bonus artwork showcasing rare character illustrations by Ami Shibata.
As of now, the Steam page for the collection does not disclose a price point or provide details regarding compatibility with the Steam Deck. This lack of information raises questions about whether the game will be Steam Deck Verified upon its launch.
For those who may not find this nostalgic release appealing, another cult-classic SNES title, Soccer Kid, is set to launch even sooner, on June 18, just in time for the World Cup festivities.
