A new navigation offering has officially launched on both Android Auto and Apple’s CarPlay, specifically designed to enhance the riding experience for motorcycle enthusiasts.
While Android Auto and CarPlay have traditionally catered to the automotive sector, their functionality is expanding to accommodate a wider range of vehicles. Google has made strides in this direction, refining its platform language over the past year to better serve diverse transportation modes.
Motorcycles stand out as a prime example of this evolution. Although support for these vehicles has existed for some time, the experience has not been fully optimized—until now. Third-party navigation app Sygic has stepped up to fill this gap, introducing a tailored navigation experience for motorcycle riders within the latest v26.4 update.
This update integrates seamlessly with Android Auto and CarPlay, providing an alternative to conventional navigation apps like Google Maps and Apple Maps for motorcycles equipped with compatible technology. Riders can now access valuable information such as:
- Weather updates
- Elevation data
- Scenic route options
Sygic has also introduced innovative pulsing visual alerts, designed to capture riders’ attention regarding critical route events, including:
- Accidents
- Hazards
- Changing weather conditions
In addition to these alerts, the app offers rider-specific features such as:
- Elevation data and terrain profiles
- Weather forecasts for the destination upon arrival
- Awareness of nearby fuel stations
- Motorcycle-friendly routing options that highlight twisty roads and scenic routes
