This extensive public archive preserves approximately 13.7 TiB of compressed world data, encompassing a staggering million-by-million-block section of the 2b2t server’s Overworld, alongside smaller captures of its Nether and End dimensions. Released via torrent, it claims the title of the largest available Minecraft world download, allowing enthusiasts to explore its vastness in 2D on the web.

Accomplishing this feat was no small task; it required over a year of dedicated development and rigorous stress testing. The team, driven by a passion for preservation and armed with a unique sense of humor, faced numerous challenges along the way. They humorously attribute their success to “severe weaponized autism,” the collaboration of several key contributors, significant financial investment, and countless hours of effort. The archive is composed of four distinct captures: a 1,024,000-block-wide Overworld area collected between December 2025 and April 2026, an earlier 512,000-block Overworld from late 2024, a 256,000-block End region, and a 100,000-block Nether area. To gather this data, the team deployed 28 bot accounts that autonomously traversed the map, meticulously storing everything transmitted by the server. It’s important to note that this data is not a conventional saved world but rather a custom snapshot in its own format. While it can be set up locally, the sheer volume of data presents a considerable challenge for users.
At the helm of this project was a developer known as crayne, who crafted the file format, autopilot, and data-mining program, along with a “Wayback” server that allows players to navigate through historical snapshots. Key collaborators included Fuch, mahan, and Steve3, among others. The project’s code and documentation are available on the group’s GitHub repository, with Fuch contributing significantly to the funding, which surpassed ,000 in server rental costs.
Established in December 2010, 2b2t is one of the oldest Minecraft servers, renowned for its unyielding map that has never been reset and its notoriously hostile environment. The server boasts a rich internal lore and history, with the area surrounding the spawn point resembling a desolate crater, encircled by imposing fortifications teeming with Withers.
2b2t is a Minecraft server with no rules (IP to join: 2b2t.org) that has been operating on the same map since February 2011, managed anonymously. Over the years, it has welcomed more than 1,000,000 players, often earning the reputation of being the most challenging Minecraft server due to its toxic player base.
