Is Monzo down?

Users across major cities including Liverpool, Leeds, London, Birmingham, and Edinburgh have reported disruptions with the Monzo app. A survey indicated that 76% of users encountered issues, with 11% struggling specifically with funds transfers and 9% facing challenges with mobile banking.

In response to the outage, Monzo issued a statement acknowledging the difficulties, informing users that the app was “experiencing issues” and that full functionality was temporarily unavailable. The company expressed gratitude for users’ patience while reassuring them that essential services remained operational. Customers could still make card payments, withdraw cash, and access their account details. Additionally, they would be able to freeze their cards and manage their funds without interruption.

A spokesperson for Monzo elaborated, stating, “We’re currently experiencing a technical issue and are working to resolve this as soon as possible. In the meantime, we’ve moved into our back-up system, Monzo Stand-in, allowing customers to continue using most features of the app, including sending bank transfers and making card payments and ATM withdrawals.”

Users on Downdetector have been vocal about their experiences. One individual shared, “Can’t access any early payments, can see all pots and transfer between them and still use card to make payments but that’s all!” Another user expressed frustration, stating, “Every time I call Monzo, their voicemail says that you can transfer money between accounts on their emergency website. I can’t do it. Can anyone else? If so, how?”
