Nothing has officially unveiled the upcoming Nothing OS 5.0, an update based on Android 17, set to commence its rollout in October. This update introduces a blend of redesigned user interface elements, enhanced AI capabilities, and exciting new applications, including support for Google’s innovative 3D emoji.
While Nothing OS 5.0 may not represent a complete transformation, it certainly brings a wealth of enhancements. The update will begin rolling out in mid-October, featuring a variety of UI improvements reminiscent of Pixel’s transparency and blur effects across homescreen widgets and applications like Nothing Gallery. Users can also look forward to refreshed lockscreen clock faces, batch editing options for the homescreen, and a dedicated app for managing Nothing’s Glyph features.

Nothing anticipates that the rollout of Nothing OS 5.0 (Android 17) will begin with the Phone (3) in mid-October, followed by updates for its other supported devices, dating back to Phone (2a), through mid-January.
Open Beta builds are scheduled to launch starting August 26, initially for Phone (3) and subsequently expanding to additional devices in the following weeks. Interestingly, the Phone (4b), despite being the latest addition to the lineup, finds itself near the end of the update queue.
