If you haven’t heard of Drop Duchy yet, the game takes the geometric block-stacking formula and gives it a strategic makeover. Rather than simply clearing lines, you use blocks of diverse shapes and types to build your realm. It blends puzzle mechanics with deckbuilding and roguelite elements, putting you in charge of collecting resources, protecting your castle, and growing a powerful army.
Moreover, each run presents a new landscape where you can place tiles across forests, rivers, plains, and other environments, with careful positioning being key to getting the most out of every piece. As you progress, forming lines and placing structures strategically can provide valuable bonuses and resources that you can use to recruit and upgrade your troops.
You’ll also have to pick your path, make decisions between battles, and lead your army through branching routes as you work towards the enemy fortress. Thanks to the game’s deck-building system, you can experiment with over 110 unique cards offering new structures, upgrades, and modifiers.
Besides that, you can also trade with markets and guilds, improve your deck, and more. Overall, the game is actually very fun thanks to its robust meta progression system, three playable factions with intertwined missions, ranks, exclusive quests, and more.
