Google is set to introduce its eagerly anticipated line of Googlebooks, a new category of premium laptops designed to seamlessly integrate with Android phones. Announced back in May, the launch is now imminent in Australia, with pre-orders opening today. Devices from well-known manufacturers such as HP, Dell, Lenovo, Acer, and ASUS will be available, starting at an RRP of ,299, and are expected to hit the shelves on October 5th.
Innovative Features and Design
The Googlebooks are crafted specifically for Android users, featuring the newly developed ‘Googlebook OS’ built on the Android technology stack, enhancing the ChromeOS desktop experience. These devices will leverage Gemini Intelligence, introducing advanced functionalities like Rambler, Google’s enhanced voice-to-text feature, and more. Google has committed to providing long-term support, promising regular updates and feature drops for Googlebook OS for up to a decade following the launch.
Designed to deliver a premium experience right out of the box, Googlebooks will grant users access to millions of Android apps, complemented by the Chrome browser, which supports all desktop extensions. The laptops have been optimized for a superior gaming experience, with over 20,000 games available at launch and compatibility with GeForce Now for enhanced remote play options.

One of the standout features of Googlebooks is the seamless integration with Android phones. Users can effortlessly transfer settings, saved passwords, Wi-Fi networks, and messages between devices, all secured with end-to-end encryption. Additionally, the Googlebooks will feature the innovative Glowbar, reminiscent of the light bar from earlier Pixelbook models. This new addition not only indicates battery levels but also provides dynamic animations during interactions with Gemini.
