In a move that promises to enhance the scheduling experience for global teams, Google Calendar has introduced a feature that allows users to display up to three time zones simultaneously on the web platform. This update is particularly beneficial for those who frequently coordinate meetings across different regions, as it provides a clearer picture of when colleagues are available.
Previously, users could only view a primary and a secondary time zone, which sufficed for simpler arrangements. However, the complexities of organizing meetings involving participants from diverse locations—such as San Francisco, New York, and Zurich—often led to confusion. With this new functionality, users can now visualize multiple time zones side by side in Day, Week, and Custom multi-day views, making it easier to identify suitable meeting times.
Additionally, the update includes enhancements to the Find a Time scheduling screen, where these time zones will be visible during the creation or editing of events. Users can also personalize their experience by assigning custom labels to each time zone. For instance, instead of relying on standard abbreviations, one might opt for more recognizable labels like SFO, NYC, or ZRH, streamlining the calendar’s readability.
This feature was rolled out starting September 25 and encompasses Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers, and personal Google account holders. Rapid Release users can expect to see the update within 15 days, while Scheduled Release domains will begin their rollout on October 12.
Importantly, there is no need for an admin switch to activate this feature. Once the additional time zone capability reaches your account, you can easily set it up on your own, ensuring a seamless transition into this enhanced scheduling experience.
