Subnautica 2 is heading for ‘Early access 2.0,’ which brings ‘one of our scariest regions we’ve ever done’

Subnautica 2 is poised to embark on an exciting new chapter as it transitions into “early access 2.0.” In a recent vlog, creative director Anthony Gallegos shared insights into this significant update, which is being touted as the most substantial since the game’s initial release last May.

What’s New in Early Access 2.0

Gallegos elaborated on the forthcoming enhancements, revealing that players can anticipate a completely new playable region, enriched with several new biomes. This expansion will not only broaden the game’s landscape but also introduce fresh narrative elements, diving deeper into the stories of the colonists aboard the good ship Cicada and the enigmatic beings that inhabit their world.

Among the intriguing updates is the Collector Leviathan, which is set to receive a behavioral overhaul aimed at making it “scarier than ever,” although specific details remain under wraps. Players can also look forward to a variety of new gadgets and biomods, enhancing gameplay and exploration.

One particularly notable addition is the new frog chassis for the Tadpole, which will provide players with the advantage of arms and legs, adding a new dimension to mobility. Furthermore, the dash feature has been revamped; it will now be integrated directly into the fins, eliminating the need to choose it as an active biomod. This change simplifies gameplay, allowing players to focus on exploration without the hassle of managing biomod selections.
