State antivirus revived: “Multiscanner” returns after funding cut

The Russian portal “Multiscanner” has made a notable return, resuming its service for scanning files for malicious software. This user-friendly platform operates without the need for mandatory registration, allowing users to quickly and efficiently check their files for potential threats.

Features and Functionality

With the capability to upload files as large as 256 MB, “Multiscanner” supports an impressive array of over 30 different formats. These include common document types such as DOC, DOCX, PDF, and PPTX, as well as executable files like EXE and compressed files in ZIP format.

The scanning history is conveniently saved in the browser, providing users with easy access to their past scans. However, for those who prefer privacy, this history can be deleted along with other site data.

“Multiscanner” is compatible with several popular web browsers, including Google Chrome, Yandex Browser, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Safari. It is worth noting that the service is currently not available on mobile browsers, which may limit accessibility for some users.

Originally developed between 2023 and 2024, the portal faced a temporary halt due to funding challenges. Now, under the management of the National Technology Center for Digital Cryptography, “Multiscanner” is operating in a pilot mode, signaling its potential for broader use in the future.
