Android game developers in the US can now retain up to 95% of revenue with Xsolla Buy Button

Xsolla Launches Buy Button for Android

Xsolla, a global payment platform for game publishers and developers, has introduced its Buy Button for Android, providing a new way for mobile game developers to facilitate direct payments within their games. This SDK solution allows developers to bypass the Google Play app and route purchases through a web-based checkout instead.

The availability of the Buy Button for Android comes in the wake of recent changes in US regulations, following a court ruling in July that upheld a judgement against Google in a lawsuit brought by Epic Games. Starting from October 22nd, 2025, developers will have the option to offer external purchase choices in their games for US-based users.

Following a similar ruling against Apple in a case brought by Epic, Xsolla has also launched the Buy Button for iOS developers. The company highlighted the implications of the Epic vs Apple lawsuit in its Q2 2025 report.

The introduction of the Buy Button for Android represents a significant advancement in monetization for mobile developers, allowing them to retain up to 95% of revenue from purchases on Android devices. This is a substantial increase compared to the previous scenario where app store fees could take up to 30% of every in-app purchase.

With rising advertising costs for user acquisition and stricter platform regulations, developers are increasingly seeking direct avenues to engage and monetize their player base. Xsolla’s Buy Button for Android aims to address these challenges by providing a fast, simple, and scalable solution that aligns with regulatory changes and supports sustainable revenue growth.

Chris Hewish, President at Xsolla, emphasized the significance of this development for Android developers in the US, stating, “We’ve developed a compliant, conversion-focused solution that enables developers to regain control over their sales, scalability, and player engagement.”

Key features and benefits of the Buy Button include:

  • Direct-to-consumer (D2C) capabilities when combined with Xsolla Web Shop and Pay Station solutions, offering a premium, fully branded checkout experience.
  • A lightweight Android SDK that initiates a browser-based checkout flow within the game, enabling quick deployment within 24 hours. The checkout process is supported by Xsolla’s secure payment infrastructure and includes features like autofill and one-tap purchases to enhance conversion rates.
  • Integration with Web Shop provides access to dynamic SKU and catalog synchronization, cross-platform reward distribution, personalized promotions, player segmentation, A/B testing, and Offerwall features for monetizing non-paying users.

Developers can implement the Buy Button SDK and Web Shop integration with minimal technical complexity, leveraging Xsolla’s global support team and real-time reporting tools. Detailed information on the Buy Button functionality is available in a recent blog post by Xsolla, and interested developers can register on the Xsolla website for further details.
