Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is making waves in the gaming world, particularly with the RedMagic 11 Pro Golden Saga Edition, which has showcased its impressive capabilities in a recent demonstration. This device is not merely relying on cloud streaming; instead, it is utilizing emulation on Android to run several high-profile PC games seamlessly.
Performance Highlights
In an engaging 11-minute video by ETA Prime on YouTube, the RedMagic 11 Pro Golden Saga Edition was put through its paces, successfully delivering playable framerates in popular titles such as Cyberpunk 2077, Ghost of Tsushima, Grand Theft Auto V, Project Cars 2, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Resident Evil Requiem. This model is an enhanced version of the RedMagic 11 Pro that was previously reviewed in February.

The Golden Saga Edition stands out in the market with its robust specifications, including a 6.85-inch display boasting a 144Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 2688×1216. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, which can reach speeds of up to 4.7GHz, complemented by 24GB of LPDDR5T memory and 1TB of UFS 4.1 Pro storage. Additionally, it features a dedicated gaming chip, the RedCore R4, along with a sophisticated liquid cooling system and an active fan to manage heat.
Gaming Modes and Performance
Users have the option to select from various performance modes, including Eco, Balanced, Rise, and Diablo, allowing them to tailor the device’s power efficiency and performance to their needs. The Diablo mode, while delivering peak performance, also consumes significant power and generates considerable heat, even with the advanced cooling features in place. For the testing, ETA Prime primarily utilized the Rise mode, which strikes a balance between performance and efficiency.
The results were impressive, with Red Dead Redemption 2 averaging framerates in the high 40s and occasionally nearing 60 FPS in certain areas, a remarkable feat for a smartphone considering the game was originally designed for dedicated gaming consoles and PCs. Meanwhile, Resident Evil Requiem ran smoothly, reaching over 90 FPS in some sections, despite minor rendering issues such as missing walls.
Notably, Grand Theft Auto V achieved the highest framerates during the demonstration, reportedly hitting 100 FPS in indoor environments and maintaining over 60 FPS while navigating the open world. While the device does face challenges, including power consumption and some performance quirks, the RedMagic’s emulation capabilities on Android are undeniably impressive. As technology continues to evolve, there is hope that future devices will harness similar cooling solutions to make such gaming experiences more accessible to a broader audience.
