The co-CEO of Bossa Studios, Daniel Clough, has announced his departure from the company via a LinkedIn post, signaling a significant transition within the leadership team. Clough, who joined Bossa in 2018 as the studio general manager, ascended to the role of co-CEO in January 2021. His tenure has been marked by both growth and challenges, particularly in the ever-evolving gaming industry.
Leadership Changes Amidst Industry Challenges
In his announcement, Clough reflected on the tumultuous landscape of the gaming sector, stating, “After successfully navigating the tough industry climate in 2023 and 2024, we were hit with unexpected challenges late last year.” These challenges prompted the leadership team to make difficult decisions, including a significant downsizing of the studio to better position Bossa for the upcoming release of their highly anticipated title, Lost Skies.
Clough emphasized that the restructuring was necessary, noting, “The new size of the studio can’t justify the same structure it did when we were working on multiple projects.” His departure is part of a broader shift, as several members of the leadership team will also be leaving the studio.
Despite the changes, Clough expressed a sense of pride in his accomplishments at Bossa, stating, “I’ll always look back on my six years at Bossa really fondly. I’m incredibly proud of how we evolved the studio and what we achieved.” He remains optimistic about the future, believing that the most significant achievement is yet to come with the launch of Lost Skies. “I know the team that remains will do it justice,” he added.
This announcement follows Bossa’s recent decision to implement an undisclosed number of job cuts, further highlighting the studio’s ongoing adjustments in response to the industry’s shifting dynamics.
