Telefónica and Epic Games Join Forces to Bring Fortnite and Epic Games Store to Android Devices
Telefónica has announced a strategic partnership with Epic Games to make Fortnite and the Epic Games Store available on millions of Android devices within the telecom company’s network.
Starting today, the Epic Games Store will be pre-installed on new compatible Android devices in Telefónica markets such as Spain, the UK, Germany, and Spanish-speaking Latin America. This move aims to simplify the process for players to access popular titles like Fortnite, Fall Guys, and Rocket League Sideswipe, as well as upcoming third-party games.
The collaboration between Telefónica and Epic Games is set to expand in the coming year, offering additional benefits to mobile gamers. Telefónica’s innovative Direct Carrier Billing for the Epic Games Store has already enabled seamless payments for users, enhancing the overall gaming experience.
During the pandemic, Telefónica and Epic Games worked together on an interactive music event at Fortnite’s virtual O2 Arena, attracting a global audience of over 10.8 million participants. This successful partnership has paved the way for further collaborations between the two companies.
Lorena Itziar Senador-Gómez Lázaro, Telefónica’s Director of Partnerships and Devices, expressed excitement about the partnership, highlighting its ability to provide accessible and innovative digital experiences to users. Similarly, Michael Modon, Epic Games’ Senior Director of Growth Partnerships, emphasized the partnership’s potential to offer Android players new choices and opportunities.
As Telefónica continues to cater to its 392 million customers across Europe and Latin America, this alliance reinforces the company’s dedication to delivering cutting-edge digital services. With Epic Games’ global influence in the gaming industry, Telefónica’s digital ecosystem is set to benefit from added value and enhanced offerings for users.
