Sony PlayStation 4 Emulator ShadPS4 Expands Compatibility List
2025 has seen significant advancements in emulation technology, with the Sony PlayStation 4 now joining the list of emulated systems. Following the recent update 0.9.0, the ShadPS4 emulator has made great strides in improving compatibility and performance.
Playable games now include popular titles such as Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2, Lords of the Fallen, The Witch and the Hundred Knight 2, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan, and Odin Sphere Leifthrasir. While games like Nier Automata and Catherine Fullbody have shown improvement, they are not yet fully playable.
On Windows, the ShadPS4 compatibility page lists 33 playable games, with 81 more reaching in-game status. Linux and MacOS versions have 21 and five playable games, respectively. However, an Android build is not currently in development.
Although the emulator is still in early stages, progress is evident. Users should be aware of potential graphical glitches and crashes, similar to the challenges faced with Nintendo Switch emulation. Despite these issues, the ability to emulate PS4 games on Windows marks a significant achievement in the world of emulation.
